Event Report | KYRE workshop on the Domestic Violence Act

The Centre for Law and Policy Research (CLPR), in collaboration with Aweksha- A Women’s Trust and St. Joseph University School of Social Work, organised a workshop on Know Your Rights under the Domestic Violence Act. It was held in St. Joseph University on 25th September, 2025. The event also marked the launch of the Kannada edition of the Domestic Violence Handbook by Aweksha, created to make critical information accessible to women at the grassroots level.

Event Report | Know Your Rights and Entitlements – The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989

On June 17, 2025 the Centre for Law and Policy Research organized a “Know Your Rights and Entitlements Session” with a focus on the Prevention of Atrocities Act of 1989. This event took place at the Patrakarthara Bhavana in Kolar and aimed to educate paralegal volunteers, activists, and individuals from the SC/ST community about the law’s provisions, the challenges in its implementation, and its vital role in protecting the rights of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe victims of caste-based violence. The agenda for the day was structured into two main sessions: the first session covered essential definitions and key provisions of the Act, while the second session delved into the difficulties faced in implementing the SC/ST (POA) Act, 1989.

Event Report: Know Your Rights and Entitlements Session – Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019

On 15th February 2025, the Centre for Law & Policy Research in collaboration with in collaboration with Swatantra, Payana, and Karnataka Vikalchetanara Sanghantane (KVS)  held a ‘Know your Rights and Entitlements’ session at the CLPR Office in Bangalore. The event aimed to build the capacities of transgender persons on the legal rights and entitlements under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 and related welfare schemes. The session was attended by over 45 people including transgender persons, activists, paralegal volunteers and writers, leading to engaging and in-depth discussions on legal frameworks, discrimination, and welfare initiatives.
