CLPR conducted the West Round of ConQuest 2016 at Symbiosis Law College, Pune on the 30th of July 2016. 45 teams from across Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh participated. Prominent law schools of the region including GNLU, NLIU, MNLU, Symbiosis, ILS and GLC Mumbai alongside other institutions such as TISS Tuljapur, COEP, the Armed Forces Medical College and Savitribai Phule Pune University.
The Preliminary Round saw intense competition. The Preliminary Round needed a sudden death elimination to decide the 6 teams which would qualify to the Final Round. In the end, two teams from Symbiosis Law College, and one team each from V.M. Salgaocar College of Law, SVKM Pravin Gandhi College of Law, ILS and New Law College Pune qualified for the Finals.
The Final Rounds were even more competitive with a constant back and forth between one of the Symbiosis teams, SVKM, and Salgaocar College. The Symbiosis team and the Salgaocar team ended up tied for first place with the SVKM team finishing a narrow third. Symbiosis emerged the winner of the West Round in the tiebreaker.
However, both these teams will get a chance to renew their rivalry in the National Finals which will be held at the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi on the 20th of August 2016.
The Chief Guest and the Guest Quizmaster was Justice Shalini Phansalkar Joshi of the Bombay High Court who also conducted a round of the quiz.
