On 23rd July 2016, we organized the South Regional Round of ConQuest 2016, India’s first national-level quiz on Indian Constitution, History, and Politics. We were hosted by our partner, The School of Law, Christ University, Bangalore.
Over 50 student teams participated in the Preliminary Rounds from colleges in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala. Teams from leading law schools SCLU, NLSIU, TNNLS, and NUALS competed with teams from other prominent Universities like IIT-M, St Josephs College, RVCE, APU and BITS-Hyderabad.
At the end of the Prelim round of 25 questions, the top six teams qualified for the Finals. Four teams from NLSIU, one team from School of Law, Christ University and one team from IIT Madras made it through the competitive preliminary round.
The Regional Finals consisted of 2 Potpourri rounds, 2 Buzzer rounds and 2 Long Visual Connect rounds. While one team from NLSIU, comprising Jaydev CS and Abhishek Choudhary ran away with a substantial lead, another team from NLSIU with Sarthak Gupta and Aradhya Sethia narrowly pipped the IIT-M team of Rushabh Menon and Ashish Yadav for the second place.
Raghav Chakravarthy, from Walnut Knowledge Solutions, conducted the quiz. The Chief Guest and the Guest Quizmaster was Professor Dr. Arun Thiruvengadam, Faculty, Azim Premji University who conducted a round of the quiz and distributed the prizes.
The top two teams – both from NLSIU – from the South Regional Round have qualified for the National Finals to be held on 20th August 2016 at the Indian Law Institute, Delhi
