On 20th August, 2016, we organized the North Regional Round of ConQuest 2016, India’s first national-level quiz on Indian Constitution, History and Politics. The Quiz was held in partnership with Indian Law Institute, Delhi at the Indian Society of International Law, Delhi.
Around 45 student teams participated in the Preliminary Rounds from colleges Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in teams from leading law schools including NLU Delhi, Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA, Campus Law Centre, Army Law Institute Mohali, RGNUL, Patiala; and teams from other prominent institutes like St Stephen’s College, JNU, Department of Buddhist Studies, Hindu College.
At the end of the Prelim round of 25 questions, the top six teams qualified for the Finals. One team from JNU, a girls team from NLU Delhi, a team from St. Stephen’s College, a team from RGNUL, a team from Department of Buddhist Studies, and a team from Hindu College made it through the competitive preliminary round.
The Regional Finals consisted of 2 Potpourri rounds, 2 Buzzer rounds and 2 Long Visual Connect rounds. The team of St. Stephen’s College, comprising Apratim Chandra Singh and Akul Gurtu of St. Stephen’s College, DU narrowly overtook the first runners-up Karthik Manickam and Mohit Srivastava from JNU to win the North Regional Round. The girls’ team of Kanchan and Saumya from NLU Delhi, who was not too far behind, finished as the second runners-up.
Raghav Chakravarthy, from Walnut Knowledge Solutions, conducted the quiz. The Chief Guests and the Guest Quizmasters were Justice S Ravindra Bhat and Justice Dr. S. Muralidhar from the Delhi High Court, who were extremely enthusiastic about the Quiz and appreciated the initiative taken by CLPR with the support of FnF.
The top two teams – St. Stephen’s College and JNU – from the North Regional Round qualified for the National Finals to be held on the afternoon of 20th August 2016.
