On 6th August 2016, we organized the East Regional Round of ConQuest 2016, India’s first national-level quiz on Indian Constitution, History, and Politics. We were hosted by our partner, KIIT Law School, Orissa.
Around 50 student teams participated in the Preliminary Rounds from colleges in Orissa, Kolkata, Assam, and other states. Teams from leading law schools NUJS, KIIT Law School, and NLU, Odisha competed with teams from other prominent non-law Universities like College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneshwar.
At the end of the Prelims round of 25 questions, the top six teams qualified for the Finals. Two teams from NLU Orissa, one team from KIIT Law School, one team from the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, one team from College of Engineering and Technology and one team from NUJS, Kolkata made it through the competitive preliminary round to the regional onstage finals.
The Regional Finals consisted of two Pot Purri rounds, two Buzzer rounds and 2 Long Visual Connect rounds. NLU Orissa and College of Engineering and Technology scored consistently well right from the beginning of the regional finals and seemed destined to make into the top three. While NUJS performed strongly in the quiz as well, owing to some risky moves during the buzzer round, they were displaced from the top three positions. At the end of the quiz, College of Engineering and Technology finished first, NLU Odisha took the second position and KIIT University came in at third place.
Raghav Chakravarthy, from Walnut Knowledge Solutions, conducted the quiz. The Vice-Chancellor, KIIT University distributed the prizes.
The top two teams – College of Engineering and Technology and NLU, Orissa – from the South Regional Round have qualified for the National Finals to be held on 20th August 2016 at the Indian Society of International Law.
