This book is part of our “Equality Now!” series of four resource books, one on each of CLPR’s key areas of rights-based work including disability rights, transgender persons’ rights, women’s rights and anti-caste discrimination.
The Book illustrates the evolving legal landscape of transgender rights in India, offering case summaries of landmark judgments of High Courts and the Supreme Court and their impact on the transgender community.
It is organized thematically on issues of recognition of gender identity, right to education, equality in the workplace, social security entitlements, access to healthcare and rights within marriage and family. The book benefited immensely from the insights of community stakeholders, lawyers, academics and activists, as part of the National Consultation organized by CLPR.
The book includes QR codes under each case summary which link to the original judgments.
