CLPR’s draft Freedom of Marriage and Association and Prohibition of Crimes in the name of ‘Honour’ Bill, 2022 aims to tackle crimes in the name of ‘honour’ and ‘tradition’ that occur in cases of inter-caste and interfaith marriages. The Bill aims to promote individual autonomy and liberty to choose a partner of one’s own choice. It provides the legal framework to prevent, investigate and adjudicate crimes in the name of ‘honour’.
