Haokip graduated from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) with a degree in law.
He previously worked as a junior associate at Nanda Kishore Associates and worked on civil and commercial cases. His areas of interest are in Civil, Constitutional and Administrative law practice. He also has a keen interest in social work and has founded L. Gamnom Public Library at Lamka in Manipur to provide free library access to underprivilege children in the community.
He was involved with the litigation team at CLPR.
