Workshop on The Future of Urban Governance in India

On the 25th Anniversary of the 74th Constitutional Amendment, the Centre for Law and Policy Research (CLPR) is conducting a collaborative research project on “25 years of Constitutional Local Government in Urban India”.This project aims to examine and clarify the foundational principles and core values of urban local governance in India.

As a part of this project we are holding a one-day workshop on “The Future of Urban Governance in India” at CLPR, Bangalore on 8 December (Saturday) 2018. In this workshop, urban scholars and practitioners will present and respond to papers on the following themes:

– Institutional Framework of Urban Local Government

– Urban Planning and Land Regulation

– Housing Rights and Urban Equity

– Municipal Finance Systems and Processes

– Urban Commons and Sustainability

– Civic Participation and Service Delivery

– Digital Democracy and Smart Cities

This project is supported by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation as a part of the Constitutional and Civic Citizenship project.
