The Legal Profession in Flux – The NLS experience: Legal education & what comes next
EBC has recently published a new book, An idea of a Law school – Ideas from the Law school edited by NR Madhava Menon, Murali Nellakantan, Sumeet Malik) on the NLSIU.
The panel discussion will focus on ideas raised in the book. The discussion will explore the state of the legal profession and the state of legal academia in India. It will explore how NLSIU (and the NLU model of legal education generally) has had an impact on both these fields. The term legal profession includes everyone with a legal training using it in any way possible whether in courts and tribunals or outside them, and likewise for legal academia, both teaching and research. The idea is to leave the audience with a more nuanced understanding of what law persons do and how the NLU model furthers that.
