Section 377 Meeting and Launch of Report – Sangama

Sangama: A Resource Centre on Sexuality is organising a meeting on Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. The meeting is in the context of the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court having completed the hearing on the constitutional challenge to Section 377 and having its judgment reserved. The meeting will focus on how to take forward a positive judgement and make it a part of ongoing LGBTQ struggles.

Jayna Kothari, Executive Director of CLPR and Advocate, Supreme Court, represented Dr. Akkai Padmashali, Sanaa and Umi Umesh, in this matter. Jayna is an invited speaker and will shed light on the proceedings of the court in this case.

Sangama will also launch the South Asia Human Rights Association (SAHRA) Annual Report on Human Rights Violations on the basis of sexuality and gender identity / expression in South Asia
