The Centre for Law and Policy Research (CLPR) is a not-for-profit trust dedicated to making the Constitution work for everyone through law and policy research, social and governance interventions, and strategic impact litigation. Our primary focus is on addressing discrimination at the intersections of caste, gender, disability, and other minority groups.
CLPR engages in strategic impact litigation and legal aid work for the constitutional rights of persons with disabilities, women, gender and sexual minorities, Dalit and Adivasi persons, and other vulnerable groups. We are looking to recruit a Litigation Associate who will handle and supervise the litigation work of CLPR’s Constitution Litigation Unit (CLU), which works on all these areas.
A. About the Position and Role
The Litigation Associate will report to the Executive Director and the Litigation Director and may be assigned duties by other authorised personnel. This role involves litigation-related tasks as well as research and administrative responsibilities.
This is a full-time opportunity based out of Bangalore.
B. Scope of Work

- Meet with clients
- Draft affidavits, writ petitions, appeals, applications and other pleadings
- Brief and assist senior advocates associated with CLPR
- Appear in the High Courts and the Supreme Court as and when required
- Conduct legal research for ongoing and prospective cases
C. Desired Skills

- Ability to work independently, in drafting and filing petitions in courts
- Comfortable and confident appearing before diverse courts and judicial forums
- Capacity to manage multiple litigation matters simultaneously, even under tight deadlines
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Exceptional legal analytical, writing, and organizational abilities
- Proficiency in time management and task prioritization
D. Required Education, Experience, and Training

- Fluency in Kannada (speaking and reading)
- Undergraduate degree in Law from a recognized university and enrollment with a State Bar Council
- Master’s degree in Law (desirable)
- Strong academic background with excellent legal research and writing skills
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in litigation, preferably in the High Courts or the Supreme Court
E. Remuneration
Pay will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
