The Centre for Law and Policy Research (CLPR) is a not-for-profit trust dedicated to making the Constitution work for everyone through law and policy research, social and governance interventions, and strategic impact litigation. Our primary focus is on addressing discrimination at the intersections of caste, gender, disability, and other minority groups.

 

A. About the Position and Role

 

The Communications Associate will report to the Executive Director/Director of Operations and may be assigned duties by other authorised personnel. This role involves supporting CLPR’s public engagement strategy by creating visual content, managing digital platforms, and coordinating communication outputs across projects and initiatives.

 

This is a full-time role based in Bangalore, India.

 

B. Scope of Work

 

The Communications Associate will be responsible for the following key areas:

 

1. Communications and Public Outreach

    • Create visual content and graphics using design tools like Canva and other relevant software
    • Support the design and layout of brochures, newsletters, posters, banners, and other outreach materials
    • Coordinate with printing vendors and service providers for the production of collaterals
    • Manage CLPR’s official social media accounts (Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
    • Design and implement dissemination plans on social media for CLPR’s content including reports, events, blog posts, and campaigns
    • Track and report social media metrics to inform strategy and audience engagement
    • Draft press releases and liaise with journalists and media outlets as required.
    • Support CLPR’s project teams in the planning and execution of public outreach events and assist with venue branding, logistics, and other administrative tasks linked to events.

 

2. Website Management?

    • Liaise with other teams at CLPR to develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy and publishing calendar for all digital platforms.
    • Coordinate with web developers and designers for technical updates, troubleshooting, new feature development, and bug fixes.
    • Monitor website analytics (e.g. traffic, engagement, SEO performance) using tools like Google Analytics, and generate periodic reports to inform strategic decisions.
    • Maintain consistency in design, tone, and navigation across all digital properties.

 
C. Required Skills

    • Proficiency with design platforms such as Canva (knowledge of Adobe Suite is a plus)
    • Familiarity with managing social media platforms and content scheduling tools
    • Confortable with website CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress)
    • Excellent written and visual communication skills
    • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
    • Interest in law, public policy, social justice, or related fields is an asset

 

D. Education, Experience, and Training

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Design, Journalism, or a related discipline
    • At least 2 years of work experience in communications, digital media, or public engagement roles
    • Prior experience working with non-profits or research organizations is desirable

 
E. Remuneration

Pay will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
