The Centre for Law and Policy Research (CLPR) is a not-for-profit trust dedicated to making the Constitution work for everyone through law and policy research, social and governance interventions, and strategic impact litigation. Our primary focus is on addressing discrimination at the intersections of caste, gender, disability, and other minority groups through legal means.
CLPR engages in strategic impact litigation and legal aid work for the constitutional rights of disability, women’s, gender & sexual minority, and Dalit / Adivasi persons rights and the rights of other vulnerable groups. We are looking to recruit a Litigation Associate who will handle and supervise the litigation work of CLPR’s Constitution Litigation Unit (CLU) which works on all these areas.
A. About the Position and Role:
The Litigation Associate will report to the Executive Director and may be assigned duties by other authorized personnel. This role involves litigation tasks and related a variety of research tasks and administrative tasks.
This is a full time opportunity based out of Bangalore.
B. Scope of Work
• Draft affidavits, writ petitions, appeals, applications and other pleadings.
• Brief and assist senior advocates at CLPR.
• Appear in the High Courts and the Supreme Court as and when required.
• Carry out research for cases.
C. Desired Skills:
• Ability to work independently, translating litigation projects into action plans, and following them through from initiation to completion.
• Is comfortable and thrives in diverse courts
• Capacity to handle multiple litigation cases concurrently, even under tight deadlines.
• Demonstrable evidence of strong written and oral communication skills.
• Exceptional legal analytical, writing, and organizational abilities.
• Proficiency in time management.
D. Required Education, Experience, and Training:
• Undergraduate Degree in Law from a recognised university (mandatory).
• Master’s Degree in Law (desirable).
• Strong academic performance with excellent research and writing skills.
• 3+ years of experience in litigation in the High Courts or the Supreme Court.
• Fluency in Kannada preferred.
