The Centre for Law and Policy Research (CLPR) is a not-for-profit trust dedicated to making the Constitution work for everyone through law and policy research, social and governance interventions, and strategic impact litigation. Our primary focus is on addressing discrimination at the intersections of caste, gender, disability, and other minority groups through legal means.
A. About the Position and Role
The Human Resources Officer will report to the Executive Director, CLPR and may be assigned duties by other authorized personnel. The HR Officer will ensure a conducive working environment and be responsible for recruitment, employee support, development of relevant HR policies & procedures at CLPR. The HR officer will oversee and manage all HR operations and provide administrative support to the Finance and Administration teams.
This is a Part -Time role requiring on-site presence for 3 days per week in Bangalore.
B. Scope of Work
- Facilitating and implementing all phases of the recruitment process for CLPR including drafting detailed & accurate job descriptions; posting jobs and tracking candidates; sourcing candidates; screening candidates; interviewing and coordinating interviews; handling offers etc.
- Working with CLPR’s Executive Director and Senior Researchers to understand hiring requirements, coordinating the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details.
- Gather and maintain employee personal records both in hard & soft copies and ensure the records are up to date.
- Spearhead the implementation of HR initiatives and policies.
- Draft contracts for staff, consultants, and volunteers, and support them in understanding the details therein.
- Track and maintain a leave database for staff. This includes time taken off or any other holiday.
- Follow up on medical insurance by advising employees on eligibility, verifying submissions, and notifying employees of approvals or changes.
- Compile HR data relating to payroll processing by recording new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, salary increases, and other adjustments.
- Update the payroll information monthly and share with the finance team.
- Record all human resources actions by completing forms, reports, and logs.
- Support staff members by providing official employment documents required by third parties e.g. banks and other financial institutions.
- Review employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance and handle staff welfare.
- Support the management of disciplinary and grievance issues.
- Handle exit administration, and ensure that staff exiting has handed over all required assets.
- Communicate to staff regarding exiting staff.
- Any other HR-related task that may be required.

- An appreciation for processes and workflows.
- Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure.
- Must be able to work effectively and constructively as part of a team.
D. Education & Experience requirements
- Essential – Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
- Master’s degree/PG Diploma in Human Resources/ Business Administration or related discipline is highly recommended.
- Minimum 3 years of prior experience in an HR role or in the HR domain.
E. Remuneration
Salary will be competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
