Ambica Naithani

Research & Communications Associate

Ambica holds a MA in Gender, Violence, Conflict (International Development), from the University of Sussex, UK  and a BA (Hons) History from Miranda House, University of Delhi.

She has worked as a research facilitator engaging with marginalised perspectives on sexual health and rights with Politics 4 Her, and as a consultant with Gender at Work on a United Nations Development Programme project to mainstream gender across institutional workstreams. Ambica has also served as Communications Lead at TARSHI and as a United Nations Special Procedures Researcher with the International Women’s Initiative.

She was awarded the ALLY Fellowship by the European Union and International Network of Religious Peacebuilders. She has also been a One Future Collective Fellow, a social justice and feminist leadership program.

Her research interests lie in conflict transformation, sexual and reproductive health and rights, peacebuilding, oral traditions, and literature.

PUBLICATION | The tyranny of beauty standards: one story fits all

August 10, 2026

Across 13 countries and 104 women in an age group spanning five decades, all

connected by one experience, shows a survey conducted by me through Google Forms

and publicised on social media platforms. The common experience is a feeling of being

observed and measured.

PUBLICATION | Pride Symbols Don’t Substitute Institutional Accountability

This systemic fracture in access to information is rarely visible. What is visible are queer characters on our television screens and Pride parades in our cities, but visibility without infrastructure is insufficient. With the overcommercialisation of Pride Month and large corporations stepping in to celebrate Pride on LinkedIn, Pride Month in urban cities may represent a genuine expansion of cultural spaces, but Pride also requires a call for institutional accountability.
