CLPR Occasional Talks #15 | Jessica Lynn on ‘Transgender Rights and Family Law’

Time 5 PM

Venue Centre for Law & Policy Research

As a part of our CLPR Occassional Talks, Centre for Law and Policy Research (“CLPR”) is proud to host Jessica Lynn on 27th September where she will be talking on Transgender rights and family law, through her personal journey. Jessica Lynn is the president of Your True Gender, a non-profit organisation dedicated to informing the public on transgender issues. She is an advocate, educator and parent who is actively engaged in pressing conversations surrounding the transgender experience. Her talk will cover her transition, sex change and the impact it had on the custody of her youngest son. Due to her transgender status, she lost full parental rights to her youngest son who was 12 years old at the time. She is only parent in U.S. history – a biological parent with a previously active, supportive role in her child’s life – to be removed off of their child’s birth certificate.
Join us as we listen to someone who has the ability to express the emotional, social and legal challenges faced by a transgender woman. No topics are off the table and we welcome participation from all.
