Brototi graduated from Presidency College, Calcutta in Political Science and completed her LL.B. from Delhi University. She has an LL.M. in Human Rights Law from NLSIU, Bangalore.

Brototi has worked in the field of gender and human rights for 10 years, with organisations such as Lawyers Collective, UN Women, and the Ministry of Women & Child Development. Before joining CLPR, she has worked as an independent consultant for various non-profit organisations and UN agencies. She has co-authored the Handbook on Domestic Violence, published by Lexis Nexis Butterworths.
