Centre for Law and Policy Research (‘CLPR’) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to making the Constitution work for everyone through law and policy research, social and governance interventions and strategic impact litigation. We have been working to support and advance rights for queer and trans persons in the country.
The transgender rights movement has been active in India the form of grassroots advocacy, legal research and litigation. CLPR has been leading litigation efforts in the Supreme Court and High Courts, providing legal support at the grassroots-level and creating awareness in the academic and public spheres.
We are looking to engage a Consultant for the 2022 edition of TransForm– Transgender Rights and the Law in India (2022)”, which will constitute an edited collection of papers on transgender rights in India and an accompanying writer’s workshop where the first draft of the papers will be presented.
Scope of Work
A. The Consultant will work towards the completion of the following tasks to the satisfaction of CLPR:
- Contacting selected authors who are a part of the edited collection of papers on Transgender Rights in India.
- Following up on the progress of the papers with the confirmed authors and ensuring that the timeline for the paper submission is followed.
- Coordinating with the speakers for the writer’s workshop.
- Providing any assistance required in terms of access to resources, reports, research papers, articles or any other materials that will aid the selected authors in writing their papers. This would include editorial assistance as well.
- Design and execution of communications strategy.
- Curating social media content for public outreach regarding the edited collection of papers and the accompanying writer’s workshop.
- Assisting CLPR in organising the writer’s workshop. Also, aiding in its organisation, development, and back-end management.
- Engaging in any research and content development associated with the edited collection of papers and the writer’s workshop.
- Conducting and anchoring any other public outreach activities and coordinating media coverage.
- Coordinating with the vendors for logistics, design and printed materials for the event.
- Any other tasks assigned.
B. The period of engagement will be from 1st October 2022- 15th December 2022. The consultant shall put in a minimum of 44 working hours per week to complete the tasks mentioned above.
Eligibility
- Undergraduate degree in Law/Social Sciences/Humanities/Media/Journalism.
- Master’s Degree is and/or relevant work experience is desirable but not mandatory.
- Exceptional research and writing skills that engage with topics on law, human rights and politics with literary flair and academic prowess.
