The Centre for Law and Policy Research, Bangalore (CLPR) is a not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to making the Constitution work for everyone through law and policy research, social and governance interventions, and strategic impact litigation.
CLPR is engaged in strategic impact litigation and legal aid work in the areas of disability rights, women’s rights, rights of gender and sexual minorities, rights of Dalit / Adivasi persons and constitutional rights of other vulnerable groups. We are looking to recruit a Litigation Director who will handle and supervise the litigation work of CLPR’s Constitution Litigation Unit which works on all these areas.
Scope of Work:
- To handle the strategic litigation cases in the Constitution Litigation Unit
- To appear in the courts, including the District Court, High Courts and the Supreme Court.
- Supervise junior lawyers in the team
- Work closely with paralegal volunteers who are associated with partner organisations and guide them on basic legal processes in providing in legal assistance to people at the grassroots
- Oversee the work of the legal aid cell of CLPR providing legal assistance to members of vulnerable groups including people with disabilities, women, gender and sexual minorities, and members from Dalit / Adivasi communities
Eligibility:
- Must have a B.A.LL.B Degree in Law and enrolled with the State Bar Council
- Must have atleast 5 years of experience in litigation in the High Court
- Should have excellent research, drafting skills.
- Fluency in Kannada preferred
