Constitution & Governance

One of the objectives of the Constitutional and Civic Citizenship Project has been to create a robust civic citizenship. In furtherance to this aim, we will organise an annual Quiz on the Indian constitution and its history aimed at university students to engage with the Constitution in an interactive way. Aimed to explore how contemporary political, legal and governance issues are informed by India’s constitutional history, the quiz would draw on not only law, but multiple disciplines including politics, history and international affairs.

In 2016 we realised this objective by organising India’s first national level quiz on the Indian Constitution, History and Politics, called ‘ConQuest’. This Quiz was supported by Regional Office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) with Walnut Knowledge Solutions as our knowledge partners. ConQuest 2016 was open for undergraduate and postgraduate University students with prize money worth over one lakh rupees.

The Quiz consisted of four regional rounds (South, West, East and North) followed by a National Final in Delhi. The top two teams from each Regional Round participated in the Nationals Finals in Delhi.

ConQuest 2016 was organised in partnership with the following regional partner institutions:

CLPR’s objective of encouraging participation and engagement with the Indian Constitution by non-law students was also achieved – almost all regional rounds saw non-law teams reaching the Regional Finals. The National Finals had three teams which were non-law teams: JNU (Economics), St Stephen’s College (History) and CET Bhubaneswar (Engineering).
